During the trip, Allan kept a journal which we would like to share with you along with some of the 1700 photos that were taken by both of us. The website is down to Amanda who hopes that her ‘IT’ friends & colleagues won’t be too judgemental - “If I spend time ‘perfecting’ it, it won’t get published this side of Christmas ... Improvements (as with all great IT systems) are likely to be made after ‘go live’!”
Our trip took us from Lima to the rainforest; to Cusco and the Sacred Valley of the Incas; to Machu Picchu via train and the Inca trail; Back to Cusco to board the Andean Explorer to Lake Titicaca ... And finally back to Lima.
In summary, the trip had been fantastic. Every bit as good as we had hoped for, and then some!
Rarely does anything fully live up to expectations but this trip had and then exceeded them beyond all measure.
It truly was a ‘trip of lifetime’ and with so many high points it's difficult to pick out just one but if we had to it would undoubtedly be Machu Picchu - a well deserved wonder of the modern world.
But all the trip will stay in the memory forever. Sights and sounds and the sheer beauty and diverse nature and culture of the country are simply spellbinding!!
